Places to Visit in UK, Explore UK

You don’t have to spend your study breaks at home, there are plenty of exciting places to visit all over the UK – and most of them are easy (and relatively cheap) to get to.

Places to explore during your study breaks

England

London is a bright, vibrant city full of iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. Further afield in England you can wander past one of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge, admire the engineering feats of ancient Roman Britain at Hadrian’s Wall or explore the university towns of Cambridge and Oxford.

Scotland

Whether you prefer the hustle and bustle of a city like Edinburgh or Glasgow, or the beauty of the highlands, Scotland has plenty of holiday destinations to choose from. If you like golf you’ll love St Andrews, or if views of hills and verdant parks are more your style then a climb up Arthur’s Seat in the heart of Edinburgh is a must.

Wales

You might not immediately think of beaches when you picture the UK, but Wales has more than enough. As well as snowy peaks and wild coastline, Wales is also home to Barafundle Bay – often voted one of the best (but not necessarily the warmest) beaches in the world.

Northern Ireland

The Giant’s Causeway is located almost halfway between Northern Ireland’s colorful capital, Belfast, and the lovely walled city of Londonderry (Derry or ‘Legendry’ to the locals). Built by a giant (or so the myth and legend says), the causeway is made up of tens of thousands of interlocking basalt columns that form ‘stepping stones’ to the sea.
